The tech giant promotes collaborative advancement in business artificial intelligence

At VB Transform 2024, International Business Machines' David Cox presented a persuasive case for transparent advancement in enterprise generative AI. The executive, Vice President of AI models and leader at the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab, stressed the importance of openness in tech progress, notably in the current AI landscape.
The IBM executive emphasized the multifaceted nature of transparency in machine learning, contesting the two-dimensional view of the concept. He noted the expanding network of transparent systems from multiple providers, including tech giants, universities, and nation-states.
Nevertheless, he voiced worries about the nature of openness in many LLMs, noting that some provide scarcely more than a set of numerical values devoid of clarity in their creation techniques.
