International Business Machines pushes for transparent development in enterprise AI

At the VentureBeat conference, International Business Machines' David Cox showcased a compelling argument for open innovation in business generative AI. The executive, Vice President of machine learning frameworks and director at the joint MIT and IBM artificial intelligence laboratory, underscored the crucial nature of openness in tech progress, especially in the present artificial intelligence ecosystem.
The IBM executive emphasized the multifaceted essence of openness in AI, challenging the binary view of the concept. He noted the expanding network of accessible frameworks from diverse origins, including technology corporations, academic institutions, and countries.
Nevertheless, he expressed concerns about the quality of openness in various AI language systems, pointing out that certain models offer scarcely more than a collection of data points lacking transparency in their production methods.
